Since 1998, AZ StRUT Techie Labs and Camps have repurposed donated devices to create access to high quality STEM
enrichment for Arizona students.
AZ StRUT empowers students to learn valuable, widely applicable technological skills, promoting self-sufficiency, complementing school STEM
curricula, and giving students access to the devices they need for academic success. While developing a skill and knowledge base they can build upon in college and in their careers, students increase their confidence solving challenging hardware technology problems. Plus, AZ StRUT teaches the importance of sustainability to youth, our future sustainability leaders and innovators of environmental and community health. Through these efforts, AZ StRUT strives to build a stronger, more equitable
Arizona technological workforce with a more sustainable future.
SRP is steadfast in their commitment to partner with nonprofit organizations that provide meaningful and beneficial programs to our customers and community. Arizona can only be a great place to live when we work together to accomplish our goals. To that end, SRP recognizes the value of the programs provided by Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology and is pleased to provide a contribution of $15,000 as operating
support for Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology's AZ StRUT Techie Labs and Camps: Hands-on Technology program.
SRP support means that at least 200 Arizona
students will participate in a Techie Lab or a Techie Camp and earn a refurbished device to take home. These computers are often the first that they call their very own, rather than a loaned device from school or a shared family computer.
"As a community based not-for-profit water and energy company, SRP revenues are reinvested back into critical infrastructure to serve the millions of people who call the greater Phoenix area home. We also make corporate contributions to nonprofit organizations that provide programs and services which meet the needs – and enhance the quality of life – for our customers. These community investments benefit us all by
caring for those in need, educating the next generation of Arizonans, and creating a diverse economy," says Andrea Moreno, Community Steward Program Manager.
AZ
StRUT is very grateful to SRP for awarding us this grant to educate the next generation of Arizona technology leaders.
