AZ StRUT is proud to announce that the APS Foundation has awarded us a valuable grant to support our Techie Lab program. The APS Foundation supports programs that enhance academic achievement in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Since 1981, the Foundation has invested more than $44 million in projects throughout Arizona that help prepare students to compete in a 21st century economy.
Techie Labs give students from low-income backgrounds at Title I schools opportunities to learn valuable, widely applicable technological skills, promote self-sufficiency and complement school STEM curricula. With a service model based on a circular economy, Techie Labs
also provide students with access to the technology devices they need for academic success while simultaneously reducing e-waste through responsible recycling and repurposing. By creating more equitable access to hands-on STEM learning, AZ StRUT gives populations underrepresented in STEM fields the exposure that can spark a lifelong interest in STEM learning and the fundamentals to pursue technology careers.
Techie Lab students at 19 elementary and middle schools in the Cartwright School District, including: G. Frank Davidson, Heatherbrae, Holiday Park, Palm Lane, Charles W. Harris, and Frank Borman Schools, as well as Parelta Elementary, Cactus High School, Hope Academy High School, and the Superior Enterprise Center will all
benefit directly from APS Foundation support.
