WE HAVE NEW WHEELS

We asked and you generously answered our request for funding the very urgent purchase of a new box truck. Look at this beautiful Isuzu box truck which is still under warranty!

We are designing the wrap with our logo, contact information, and to recognize the support of our individual and corporate donors.

Our new box truck is bigger and can hold up to eight pallets of electronics for our daily pick ups. AZ StRUT now has partners all over the state who are collecting electronics to donate to us. Having a larger truck bed saves time and fuel.

Plus we have been using our new wheels to help us move into our new location (see map below). Whew! Just in the nick of time.

We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to our fund raising campaign so that we were able to reach our goal of purchasing a new truck to keep our Circular Economy Program running and expanding.

This is our last week at our Mesa location. Please save our new address and visit us in April.

We will accept donations at our new location starting Tuesday April 1st on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9AM - 2PM.

Look for the dock door on the south side of our building.

Volunteers refurbished 185 computers!

Thank you to our volunteers from AVNET Cares, APS, and Bank of America. All three of these corporations participated in our Refurbish-a-thon, learning how to refurbish computers to be given out to students in our Techie Camps. 185 computers were completed by the volunteers and are ready to be put into the hands of eager learners. More resources shared by our community!

Thunderbirds Charities Supports STEM Education

We are honored to announce that we were awarded a two-year $25,000 grant by Thunderbirds Charities to support our STEM education programs: Techie Labs and Techie Camps.

Techie Labs started in 1998 as a local school partnership with priority on serving Title I schools. We now partner with 50 schools and colleges, enrolling more than 3,000 students yearly. Students learn skills to earn CompTIA A+ and/or Tech+ certifications. Furthermore, AZ StRUT introduces the importance of sustainability to youth, who are the future leaders and innovators of environmental and community health.

Techie Camps introduce hardware terms and functions like RAM and drives as well as distributing refurbished computers to students and families in a meaningful, hands-on approach. Many students and families get their first home computer from AZ StRUT Techie Camp after learning how to troubleshoot and maintain it.

In 2025, AZ StRUT will support thousands of students on the path to STEAM careers in Arizona to build the diversity and strength of our workforce. Through these efforts, AZ StRUT builds a more equitable Arizona technological workforce with a sustainable future.

Established in 1986, Thunderbirds Charities is the charitable arm of The Thunderbirds, whose purpose is to grant the funds generated by the WM Phoenix Open. Thirty-nine years later, the mission of Thunderbirds Charities remains the same; to assist children and families, help people in need and improve the quality of life in Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Each year Thunderbirds Charities accepts grant proposals that support at-risk youth & families, community outreach/quality of life, education, improving the lives of the physically and mentally challenged and working to eliminate domestic violence, homelessness, and poverty.
