AZ StRUT Volunteers Gave

1,803 total hours 

2024 was a record breaking year for AZ StRUT and one big reason was the dedication and generosity of our volunteers. From our Board of Directors to Focus Employment Services' clients, Grand Canyon University students, and many of our corporate partners, we had a total of 240 volunteers who contributed over the equivalent of $60,000 of work to AZ StTUT. 
Bonnie Faulkinbury, our Operations Manager, says, " We couldn't achieve  our mission without all of our volunteers. They are the reason we can sort ten tons of donations each week."

How did that happen?

TOP INDIVIDUALS:

• Eric Ose completed 203 volunteer hours. 
• Bruce Gasper, a student from Dobson High School, gave 100 volunteer hours 
• Zach Brown, an ASU student, volunteered through the hot summer months for a total of 70 hours.

ORGANIZATIONS:

• Grand Canyon University:  Students volunteered to help with Chromebook refurbishment for a total of 591 hours from September – December.
• Focus Employment Services:  Clients and instructor David Barney volunteer twice a week to refurbish computers. 

COMPANIES:

• APS:  13 volunteers provided 36 hours
• Gila River Digital Connect:  8 volunteers  contributed 32 hours
• Delta Dental:  5 volunteers provided 20 hours
• Intel Corporation:  30 volunteers gave 192 hours
• Bank of America: 12 volunteers contributed 38.5 hours

AZ StRUT is  proud to announce that the philanthropic arm of onsemi, the ON Semiconductor Foundation, has awarded us a grant to support our Techie Labs and Techie Camps. 

Our programs were one of 52 global projects chosen! These grants are more than just funding – they’re an investment in the future of the semiconductor industry and its workforce.

AZ StRUT Techie Labs and Techie Camps use donated electronics to develop the hands-on hardware skills that learners need to succeed in our workforce. 

onsemi Giving Now funding will allow AZ StRUT to offer 18 Techie Camps free of charge to partners such as Veterans Upward Bound and the Back to School Clothing Drive. All learners will leave their Techie Camp with their own refurbished computer.

In addition 400 students in our Techie Lab partnership classes will continue to develop their hands-on technology skills and pursue industry certifications like CompTIA A+.

By supporting innovative initiatives focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), onsemi Giving Now is  helping bridge the critical skills gap in these fields, especially within semiconductors, and empowering the next generation of talent to thrive.

Truck Fundraising update
