John’s journey to AZ StRUT began with Treasures 4 Teachers, where he spent years testing everything from ceiling fans to computers for their thrift store. When the focus
shifted away from electronics, AZ StRUT was a natural place for him to continue his passion for fixing and tinkering—without even needing to change his destination or commute.
His career started at America West Airlines in the early days of the company, where
fixing and building technology on a shoestring budget was the norm. That mindset of resourcefulness still drives his volunteer work today, whether it’s reviving a tricky computer or helping interns learn the ropes of technology repair.
For John, the best part of
volunteering with AZ StRUT is seeing donated tech find new life in classrooms and nonprofits, while also knowing that every piece reused or recycled helps protect our planet. “We only have one planet,” he reminds us, “and all of the electronics we mass produce need to be used as long as they are viable.”
Thank you, John, for your dedication and passion.
